Urban Freight Lab

The Urban Freight Lab is a living laboratory based at the University of Washington. It's a collaborative space bringing together academic researchers, public-sector agencies, and private-sector companies involved in transportation and logistics. This includes retailers, carriers, shippers, infrastructure and operational technology providers, real estate developers, and vehicle and vehicle part manufacturers. The lab focuses on finding solutions to urban freight challenges in an era of increasing e-commerce, rising transportation emissions, and a growing need for equity and safety in cities. Their work aims to make urban freight operations more efficient, leading to more sustainable and livable cities. Since its founding in 2016, the Urban Freight Lab has completed numerous research projects focused on urban freight management. These projects have successfully developed strategies to reduce dwell time and failed delivery attempts, ultimately decreasing traffic congestion, CO2 emissions, and overall delivery costs.
