The University of Missouri Asian Affairs Center (AAC) is a center located in Columbia, Missouri. Established in 1998, the AAC is a division of the Office of the Provost. The AAC focuses on building bridges between the University of Missouri and Asia, fostering connections with alumni, partners, and institutions in the Pacific Rim. They aim to promote understanding and appreciation of Asian cultures within the university community and the broader region. Through the Missouri International Training Institute, the AAC offers short-term and long-term training programs for Asian scholars, officials, and students. A unique aspect of the AAC's approach is its emphasis on immersive language and cultural acquisition. Participants engage in a "living English" environment, integrating themselves into American culture rather than simply studying it. This approach utilizes community involvement, American collegiate ambassadors, and an English-only policy throughout the program.
