University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project

The University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project is a student-run organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Founded in 1990, the project is comprised of undergraduate students from the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering. The team has grown to 23 employees and has a history of success, building thirteen solar vehicles and earning numerous accolades. The University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project designs, builds, and races solar-powered vehicles. Their focus has shifted in recent years to building practical and efficient multi-occupant solar vehicles, making them the first Cruiser Class team in America. The project provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering and management within a complete product development environment.
