University of Idaho McCall Outdoor Science School

The University of Idaho McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) is a school located in McCall, Idaho. Operated by the University of Idaho’s College of Natural Resources, MOSS is a unique educational institution with a staff of 7 employees. MOSS offers graduate and professional education programs focused on fostering scientific literacy, leadership skills, and open-minded dialogue. They achieve this through a variety of initiatives including youth science programs, research, and seminars. Graduate students participate in field-based educational activities, teaching youth from Idaho and surrounding states about science and the environment. The graduate program at MOSS provides students with hands-on teaching experience in place-based environmental education and science communication. Students also take graduate-level courses in ecology, place-based education, leadership, and science communication. The program offers experience in outdoor science school and non-profit operations, all within a spectacular natural environment.
