UC Haiti Initiative

The UC Haiti Initiative is a non-profit organization based in the United States dedicated to fostering higher education partnerships between the University of California and the State University of Haiti. As a global initiative, the organization connects students, faculty, administrators, and alumni from both institutions to collaborate on educational, research, and public service projects aimed at Haiti's development. The UC Haiti Initiative supports multidisciplinary, peer-to-peer projects that facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. They cultivate global citizenship through UCHI Chapters established at each of the 10 UC campuses, fostering a network of engaged individuals dedicated to Haiti's progress. Administered through the UCLA Center for World House, the UC Haiti Initiative holds 501(c)(3) non-profit status. A significant milestone was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the State University of Haiti (UEH) and all 10 UC campuses, formalizing the partnership's commitment. The organization maintains an in-country presence with a director and office located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
