Tomaquag Museum

Tomaquag Museum is a Native-operated institution located in Exeter, Rhode Island. Dedicated to showcasing Indigenous culture, arts, and history, the museum employs 16 individuals and generates annual revenue of $2.5 million. Tomaquag Museum's extensive collection and archive focus on tribal communities of southern New England, with a particular emphasis on the Narragansett Tribe. They offer a unique space for the public to learn about Indigenous history, culture, and contemporary issues through engaging exhibits and educational programs. In addition to its museum exhibits, Tomaquag Museum operates the Indigenous Empowerment Network. This initiative aims to foster economic change within the Indigenous community of Rhode Island by providing education, cultural competency training, job opportunities, and employment support.
