ThinkSelf Minnesota Deaf Adult Education and Advocacy

ThinkSelf Minnesota Deaf Adult Education and Advocacy is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Founded in 1989, the organization has grown to employ 12 people and generates $2 million in annual revenue. ThinkSelf Minnesota offers two primary programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Advocacy. The ABE program provides English language instruction specifically tailored to Deaf adults. This unique program is the only stand-alone Deaf adult education program nationwide, aiming to create a safe and supportive learning environment that empowers learners to gain confidence and fluency in English. The Advocacy program provides statewide services to survivors of domestic abuse within the Deaf community. This program offers a range of services including crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, community education, and outreach, all designed to empower survivors to rebuild their lives and create supportive networks. ThinkSelf Minnesota takes a unique approach to advocacy by recognizing the multifaceted identities of the individuals they serve, using an intersectional lens to understand and address their diverse needs.
