Theatre Of Hearts Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California. They are a community-based organization with 19 employees. Theatre Of Hearts focuses on promoting understanding between people through cultural and artistic forums. They empower local communities through education in the arts, particularly targeting underserved youth. Their flagship program, "Youth First" Artist-In-Residence Program, provides visual arts, music, dance, theatre & storytelling, and creative writing & poetry workshops to at-risk youth ages 4-28. These workshops are offered free of charge at juvenile detention facilities, community-based sites, and urban and alternative schools throughout Los Angeles County. Since 1992, Theatre Of Hearts' "Youth First" Artist-In-Residence Programs have served over 202,500 youth, offering a creative, safe, and positive environment for self-expression and academic growth. Their programs adhere to the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Content Standards for California Public Schools and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts.
