The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. Since its founding in 1986, SCLA has grown to employ 18 people. The Shakespeare Center is dedicated to presenting professional productions of Shakespeare's plays throughout Greater Los Angeles. They also offer educational enrichment programs for youth focused on arts engagement and academic success. These nationally recognized programs have earned numerous awards and accolades, including recognition from the White House. SCLA's unique "Food for Thought" admission policy allows attendees to donate food items in lieu of an admission charge for their productions. This initiative has collected over $2 million worth of food for those in need. The organization’s commitment to community impact has been recognized by Harvard's Ash Institute, Project Zero, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
