The Phoenix Scholars

The Phoenix Scholars is a non-profit organization based in Palo Alto, California, that empowers underserved high school students to succeed in their college applications. Established in 2010, the organization employs between 100 and 249 individuals and generates annual revenue of $50 million. The Phoenix Scholars offers free college admissions consulting and mentorship to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority students throughout California. Their program pairs high school juniors with mentors who are current undergraduate students at Stanford University or the University of California, Berkeley. These mentors, many of whom are themselves first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented minorities, provide individualized support and guidance to their mentees through the college admissions process.
