The Guidance Center

The Guidance Center (TGC) is a non-profit organization based in Leavenworth, Kansas. Founded in 1937 as the Atchison Child Guidance Clinic, it has grown to serve Atchison, Jefferson, and Leavenworth Counties. TGC is the local Community Mental Health Center and employs 29 individuals. TGC provides a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient referral/release services for individuals, families, and businesses. Their services include a broad array of home and community based behavioral health services. The Guidance Center is dedicated to serving those most in need, regardless of their ability to pay, offering a sliding fee scale for individuals who lack financial resources. Notably, they are the only provider of psychiatry services in the three-county area. The Guidance Center prioritizes mental health recovery for children and adults with serious mental illness and substance abuse issues. They actively work to dismantle the stigma surrounding these issues through advocacy and education, encouraging individuals to seek treatment.
