The Cookbook Project

The Cookbook Project (CBP) is a non-profit organization based in New Orleans, Louisiana. CBP is a 501c3 organization dedicated to improving the health and sustainability of communities through food literacy education. They are a small organization with 5 to 9 employees. The Cookbook Project focuses on training community leaders as Food Literacy Educators (FLEDs). These FLEDs then work with at-risk youth and families in schools and community settings, teaching them how to make healthy and sustainable food choices. Their programs aim to help participants navigate food deserts in low-income areas. CBP's unique approach utilizes a train-the-trainer model, building a global network of Food Literacy Educators. To date, they have trained over 450 Local Leaders and reached an estimated 6,000 youth through their programs. CBP has also conducted on-site projects and community trainings in multiple countries around the world, including Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, India, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana, South Africa, Indonesia, and throughout the United States.
