The American Association of Suicidology

The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. Founded in 1968, AAS employs 23 individuals and generates approximately $2.5 million in annual revenue. AAS focuses on understanding and preventing suicide through various initiatives. These include advancing suicidology as a science, encouraging research and training, developing strategies to reduce suicidal behaviors, and disseminating accurate information about suicide to the public. AAS also promotes high-quality suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention programs. AAS serves as a national clearinghouse for suicide-related information, offering public awareness programs, public education, and training for professionals and volunteers.
