Talking Talons Youth Leadership

Talking Talons Youth Leadership (TTYL) is a non-profit organization based in Tijeras, New Mexico, with a team of 5 to 9 employees. Founded on the belief that connecting youth with nature fosters environmental stewardship, TTYL operates educational programs focused on rescued birds of prey, bats, reptiles, and wilderness environments. TTYL offers hands-on experiences where students learn about these animals and the environmental challenges they face. The organization further empowers participants by equipping them with public speaking and peer leadership skills, enabling them to effectively share their knowledge with others. Beyond direct animal encounters, TTYL actively participates in the Collaborative Forest Restoration Program (CFRP) in partnership with community organizations, businesses, and the US Forest Service. Through CFRP, TTYL educates the public about forest health, the reasons behind forest overgrowth, and the restoration efforts underway. Student volunteers play a crucial role in collecting data at various locations within the CFRP site to monitor the effectiveness of the collaborative restoration project.
