SwingPals

SwingPals is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Durham, North Carolina. Founded in 2010, SwingPals employs six individuals and generates $2.5 million in annual revenue. SwingPals uses golf as a tool to empower at-risk students to navigate adversity and cultivate healthy emotional management. They provide a range of programs designed to foster mindfulness, self-regulation, and character development in students facing challenges. The organization partners with underserved middle schools in Durham, offering a one-week in-school physical education unit on golf and mindfulness to all sixth graders. Interested students then have the opportunity to participate in after-school programs at Hillandale Golf Course. The SwingPals program offers students a variety of support services, including twice-weekly golf coaching, mindfulness and self-awareness coaching utilizing biofeedback tools, mentorship opportunities through Big Brothers Big Sisters, transportation to and from the golf course, and assistance with college planning and exploration. SwingPals also encourages students to participate in service projects to develop their character and contribute to their community.
