Southwest Transplant Alliance Inc

Southwest Transplant Alliance Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1974, STA is one of the largest of 57 federally designated, nonprofit organ procurement organizations (OPOs) in the United States. The organization is a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and employs over 200 people. STA's mission is to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. They facilitate the recovery of lifesaving organs and healing tissues, having participated in over 35,000 organ recoveries and thousands of tissue recoveries since its inception. STA serves over 10 million Texans across various cities in the state, including Dallas, Beaumont, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Galveston, Midland/Odessa, Temple, Tyler, and Wichita Falls. In addition to its core mission, STA established the STA Foundation in 2018. This foundation focuses on providing care for families of donors and recipients, educating the community about the importance of organ donation, and funding research in transplant science.
