Southern Governors Association

The Southern Governors Association (SGA) is a unique non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. established in 1934. As the oldest and historically largest regional governors' association, the SGA provides a platform for the governors of 18 Southern states to collaborate and advocate for their shared interests. With a staff of one employee, the SGA generates an annual revenue of $2.5 million. The SGA's primary function is to act as a bipartisan forum for Southern governors to address national policy issues and regional challenges. The association facilitates the exchange of ideas, promotes regional cooperation on collaborative initiatives, and amplifies the accomplishments of the Southern states. The SGA's members represent a diverse range of states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
