Society of Peer Mentors

The Society of Peer Mentors (SPM) is a student organization operating within the College of Engineering at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Comprised of a team of four employees, SPM is an interdisciplinary group focused on providing mentorship and support to students at all levels. SPM's core mission is to guide and empower students through various academic and extracurricular endeavors. Their mentors actively engage in community outreach programs such as STEM nights, robotics team mentorship, and freshman orientation, preparing students for success in their engineering journeys. SPM's commitment extends beyond the classroom, fostering a strong sense of community and support among its members. One of SPM's most notable achievements is its impressive 90% retention rate among its mentors within the College of Engineering, significantly higher than the college average of 40%.
