SHIFT is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, California. Currently employing 20 people, SHIFT focuses on developing and scaling new approaches within the social sector to address pressing global issues. SHIFT offers a variety of services and programs designed to empower individuals and organizations working towards social change. These include an online hub called Shift.org, a platform for collaborative capacity-building, an online school for social change, resource and media libraries, peer-to-peer support forums, and an online marketplace for consulting and coaching. Additionally, SHIFT plans to launch LaunchPad and the SHIFT Cooperative Group in 2013 to provide collaborative models for launching, supporting, and scaling new campaigns and organizations. A key aspect of SHIFT's approach is its commitment to sector innovation. They believe in synthesizing the strengths of past social movements and direct service initiatives to create a "third wave" for the social sector.
