SanteeLynches Regional Council of Governments

Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments (SLCOG) is a sub-state district based in Sumter, South Carolina, with 11 employees. As one of ten Regional Councils of Government (COGs) in the state, SLCOG serves the counties and cities of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter. SLCOG offers a range of services to its member municipalities and counties, including grant resource identification and administration, planning, economic development assistance, workforce training, assistance for the aging, affordable housing, community development, water and sewer development, transportation, public safety, and inter-governmental management assistance. SLCOG is governed by a 29-member Board of Directors comprised of representatives from member municipalities and counties, as well as area legislative delegations. The Board sets the Council’s annual work program and budget. While COGs are defined as political subdivisions of the state, they do not have the same powers or authority as cities and counties. They aim to enhance efficiency and effectiveness by working with local governments and public agencies.
