Santa Lucia Conservancy

The Santa Lucia Conservancy is a non-profit organization based in Carmel by the Sea, California. Established in 1995, the Conservancy has grown to employ 18 individuals and generates an annual revenue of $35 million. The Santa Lucia Conservancy is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the ecological integrity of over 18,000 acres within the Santa Lucia Preserve. Their efforts focus on preserving the natural beauty, biodiversity, and valuable benefits of these lands, including clean air and water. The Conservancy collaborates with various academic and environmental partners to conduct research that explores the relationship between human communities and the natural environment. A key part of their mission is environmental education. Each year, the Santa Lucia Conservancy offers free educational programs to over 3,000 participants from public and private schools and homeschooling families.
