San Gabriel Basin WQA

San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority (WQA) is a governmental organization headquartered in West Covina, California. The WQA employs a team of 8 individuals and generates an annual revenue of $2.5 million. Established in 1993 by the California State Legislature (SB1679), the WQA is governed by a seven-member board representing various stakeholders in the San Gabriel Basin, including municipal water districts, entities with prescriptive pumping rights, a city without prescriptive rights, and water producers. The WQA's primary objective is to manage groundwater quality in the San Gabriel Basin. They achieve this through a multifaceted approach, which includes coordinating groundwater cleanup efforts, educating the public about contamination issues, characterizing the extent of contamination, assisting potentially responsible parties (PRPs) and responsible parties (RP), and implementing programs to prevent or minimize the spread of contamination.
