Salem Athenaeum

The Salem Athenaeum is an independent membership library and cultural center located in Salem, Massachusetts, with a team of three employees. Established in 1810, the Athenaeum has a rich history dedicated to fostering a love of literature and culture within the North Shore community. The Athenaeum offers a diverse range of resources and programming for the public. Their contemporary circulating collection covers fiction, non-fiction, and children's literature. Additionally, they house historical research collections spanning literature, natural sciences, political and social sciences, theology, and travel. The Athenaeum also hosts a variety of engaging events, including lectures, concerts, plays, discussion groups, author readings, poetry readings, storytelling, workshops for readers and writers, and literary social events.
