RIT Baja

RIT Baja is a student organization based in Rochester, New York. Comprised of 19 members, the group focuses on automotive engineering and design. RIT Baja designs and builds off-road vehicles each year for competition in the Baja SAE collegiate design series, sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Their vehicles are evaluated in static events, such as cost and design evaluations, and dynamic events like acceleration, hill climb, and maneuverability. Ultimately, the competition culminates in a 4-hour endurance race. The team prides itself on creating an inclusive environment for students of all majors, years, and backgrounds, encouraging collaboration and diverse perspectives. Students participate in all aspects of the engineering design process, from design and manufacturing to testing, developing valuable hands-on skills and understanding the real-world impacts of their work.
