Right2Know Campaign

Right2Know Campaign (R2K) is a South African coalition made up of individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting open access to information and government transparency. Though a relatively small organization, with 20 to 49 employees, R2K has established itself as a powerful voice advocating for greater public access to information. R2K focuses its efforts on campaigning against legislation that threatens freedom of expression and access to information. The campaign gained prominence in its opposition to the Protection of Information Bill, also known as the Secrecy Bill, currently under consideration in the South African parliament. R2K believes that a just and accountable democracy, capable of addressing the needs of its citizens, relies on transparency and the free exchange of information. The organization works to unite diverse groups in their shared commitment to information rights.
