Power California

Power California is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization based in Oakland, California. The organization employs 40 individuals and has a history dating back to 2004. Power California is a multi-racial civic engagement organization focused on increasing voter participation among young people of color and their families throughout the state. Power California works to create a more equitable and just California for all its residents. Their efforts center around electoral movement building, providing support to community-based organizations in urban, suburban, and rural areas. The organization focuses on empowering young voters of color to become a strong voting bloc. Power California was originally founded as Mobilize the Immigrant Vote (MIV) in 2004 and later partnered with the Movement Strategy Center to launch YVote in 2016. These projects aimed to build electoral capacity within community-based organizations and cultivate a new generation of politically active young Californians.
