Our House Residential Job Training Center for Youth

Our House Residential Job Training Center for Youth is a non-profit organization based in Brookeville, Maryland. Established in 1993, Our House serves as a residential facility for abandoned, abused, homeless, and orphaned male youth between the ages of 16 and 20. The organization supports young men from Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia who have come through the social welfare and juvenile justice systems. Our House provides a comprehensive program that includes carpentry and building trade skills training, academic education to help youth obtain their GED, life skills development, and opportunities to build self-esteem and confidence. The young men also participate in various activities, such as running a Certified Organic Garden, tending beehives and hens, engaging in pottery, and contributing to the community through weekly service projects. Located on a 140-acre farm, Our House benefits from the support of Oprah Winfrey, who assisted in the purchase of the property in 2000. The organization's mission is to empower "America's Forgotten Children" by providing them with the tools and resources necessary to achieve success in life.
