Orange County Water District

The Orange County Water District (OCWD) is a special district, established in 1933 by the California State Legislature, that serves as the Groundwater Authority for Orange County, California. Headquartered in Fountain Valley, the organization is governed by a 10-member board of directors. OCWD employs 239 people and generates $11.1 million in annual revenue. OCWD manages the significant groundwater basin underlying north and central Orange County, providing 85 percent of the water used by 2.5 million residents in the area. They supply water to cities including Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster, and Yorba Linda. Through nearly 90 years of strategic planning and investment, OCWD has been successful in doubling the sustainable yield of the groundwater basin.
