Office of the Peoples Counsel for the District of Columbia

The Office of the People's Counsel for the District of Columbia is an independent agency of the District of Columbia government located in Washington, DC. The agency employs 13 individuals. The Office of the People's Counsel advocates for consumers of natural gas, electric, water, and local telephone services. Their mission is to represent the interests of District utility ratepayers before various regulatory bodies, including the DC Public Service Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Federal Communications Commission, and the courts. A core responsibility of the Office is to conduct consumer education and outreach programs.
