Northwest Review

Northwest Review is a literary journal based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1957 by the University of Oregon, the journal boasts a rich history of publishing award-winning authors, including Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and Booker Prize winners. Over its history, Northwest Review has showcased the works of notable figures such as Ken Kesey, Raymond Carver, Louise Erdrich, George Saunders, Joyce Carol Oates, and Ursula K. LeGuin. After a period of dormancy, Northwest Review was revived in 2020 under the leadership of S. Tremaine Nelson, a writer and publisher with experience at The Paris Review and The New Yorker. The journal is now overseen by a board of literary advisors and a dedicated staff, working to revitalize the platform for showcasing Northwest writers and artists. The journal is currently undergoing a redesign and has expanded its submission process to include electronic submissions for the first time in its history.
