North Florida Land Trust

North Florida Land Trust is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and employs 26 people. North Florida Land Trust works to preserve and enhance the natural environment in North Florida. They achieve this by partnering with landowners, local government, and environmental organizations to protect environmentally sensitive ecosystems, unique habitats, and wildlife corridors. The organization also focuses on preserving river, creek, spring, and marsh properties crucial to the watershed, as well as buffers for existing parks and preservation areas. The organization utilizes GIS-based criteria to identify priority conservation lands and purchases properties that meet these criteria. They also create conservation easements to limit development on these lands. North Florida Land Trust provides stewardship and monitoring of preserved lands, enlists volunteer efforts, and develops programs for restoration, education, conservation, and planning.
