North American Lake Management Society

The North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. Founded in 1980, NALMS is a small organization with four employees and generates $2.5 million in annual revenue. NALMS is dedicated to fostering the management and protection of lakes and reservoirs. The organization's mission centers around creating partnerships between citizens, scientists, and professionals to ensure the health of these water bodies for present and future generations. While focusing on lakes, NALMS also recognizes the interconnectedness of water systems and engages in activities related to land, streams, wetlands, and estuaries. NALMS welcomes a diverse membership, including academics, concerned citizens, lake management organizations, lake property owners, lake users, legislators, policy makers, politicians, professional lake managers, regulators, scientists, students, and volunteer monitors.
