Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA) is a private non-profit organization based in Traverse City, Michigan. With 178 employees, NMCAA has generated $17.9 million in revenue. NMCAA provides a range of services aimed at helping individuals and families achieve greater economic security. These services include case management counseling, advocacy, group participation, and service provision. The agency works to address community problems and meet the individual needs of residents in the ten counties it serves: Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Missaukee, Roscommon, and Wexford. Founded in 1974, NMCAA emerged from the merger of two northern Michigan Community Action Agencies. Operating under the principles established by President Lyndon Johnson's administration's war on Poverty and the Economic Opportunity Act, NMCAA has maintained its commitment to strengthening communities.
