New Mexico Student Loans, also known as the New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation (NMEAF), is a private non-profit organization based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Established in 1981 by the New Mexico Legislature, NMEAF is dedicated to making post-secondary education more accessible to residents of the state. With a team of 31 employees, NMEAF has generated $16.6 million in revenue. NMEAF offers a range of financial services to support students pursuing higher education. Their primary program, New Mexico Student Loans (NMSL), provides private student loans, loan refinancing options, and manages various student loan programs. NMSL also sponsors borrower benefits programs designed to lower interest rates, resulting in significant savings for borrowers. Additionally, NMEAF partners with New Mexico's public colleges and universities through the New Mexico Education Council (NMEC) to promote higher education at high schools and award scholarships to graduating seniors.
