National Cued Speech Association

The National Cued Speech Association is a non-profit organization based in Bethesda, Maryland. With a small team of three employees, the NCSA generates an annual revenue of $1 million. The National Cued Speech Association provides resources and training for individuals and organizations interested in learning about cueing. Cueing is a visual communication method that combines mouth movements with hand gestures to represent the sounds of spoken language, enabling individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have language disorders to access and understand spoken language. The NCSA offers free parent kits for those exploring cueing, as well as leadership, education, advocacy, and resources training (CLEAR) programs. They also provide instructor certification for teaching Cued American English classes and operate a Cue Store offering a variety of cueing materials and online courses. The NCSA established the Deaf Children’s Literacy Project (DCLP), a separate non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy for deaf and hard of hearing infants and children.
