National Criminal Justice Association

The National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. With 49 employees, the NCJA serves as a representative body for state, tribal, and local governments on issues related to crime prevention and control. The NCJA's membership encompasses a wide range of organizations within the criminal and juvenile justice community, including law enforcement, corrections, prosecution, defense, courts, victim-witness services, and educational institutions. The association also includes federal, state, and local elected officials. The NCJA's mission is to promote a balanced approach to addressing public safety and criminal justice system challenges faced by communities. Founded in 1971, the NCJA works to shape and implement criminal justice policy at the national level. Guided by a 17-18 member Board of Directors, the organization serves as a conduit for communicating the needs and accomplishments of state, tribal, and local criminal and juvenile justice practitioners to Congress. The NCJA also collaborates with policymakers and practitioners to ensure that federal executive and other public and private agencies are aware of state, tribal, and local perspectives on crime prevention and control.
