Midcoast Council of Governments

Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) is a nonprofit organization based in Damariscotta, Maine. As a regional planning and economic development district, MCOG serves 66 communities in the Midcoast region. The organization is municipally-driven, meaning it is guided and supported by local communities. With a small team of four employees, MCOG plays a vital role in regional development. MCOG provides a range of services to assist its member communities. These services focus on planning and economic development needs. Through funding received from local municipalities, state, and federal governments, MCOG helps communities with projects and initiatives that enhance their growth and well-being. The organization evolved from a combination of existing regional entities, including the Midcoast regional planning commission, MCEDD, and the Bath-Brunswick-Topsham Development Corporation. These predecessors had a long history of serving Midcoast Maine since the 1990s, and MCOG continues their legacy of collaborative regional development.
