Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society (MRFRS) is a non-profit organization based in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Founded in 1992, MRFRS is dedicated to improving the lives of cats and supporting cat owners. With a staff of 12 employees, MRFRS has a mission-driven approach, aiming to provide comprehensive care and resources for cats in need. MRFRS offers a variety of programs and services to address the diverse needs of cats in their community. Their Adoption Program houses up to 60 cats and kittens in a no-kill adoption center, offering them a safe haven until they find their forever homes. They also run a Feral Program, assisting with Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives to manage free-roaming cat populations. MRFRS further supports cat welfare through Sunday Spay/Neuter Clinics for feral cats and their mobile clinic, the Catmobile, which provides affordable spay/neuter services across Eastern Massachusetts. MRFRS distinguishes itself through its comprehensive approach to feline welfare. In addition to adoption and TNR efforts, they offer a Foster Program to provide temporary care for cats and kittens, and the FARS Program to assist owners with veterinary care costs. They also have the Captain Courageous Fund to help injured feral cats and the Bridge Program, providing emergency boarding for cats whose owners face unforeseen circumstances.
