Meals on Wheels of Wake County

Meals on Wheels of Wake County is a non-profit organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The organization employs 27 people and generates annual revenue of $5 million. Meals on Wheels of Wake County provides home-delivered meals to residents of Wake County who are 60 years old or older, homebound, and vulnerable. "Homebound" is defined as being unable to work, volunteer, drive, or leave their residence without assistance. "Vulnerable" means being unable to perform basic activities of daily living without assistance due to physical, cognitive, emotional, psychological, or social impairments. Founded in 1974, Meals on Wheels of Wake County has served over 9 million meals to residents of Wake County. Over 2,200 volunteers help deliver meals Monday through Friday each week. The organization is part of Meals on Wheels America, a network of over 5,000 Senior Nutrition Programs and 800,000 volunteers across the United States dedicated to eliminating senior hunger.
