Mead Art Museum

The Mead Art Museum is a museum located in Amherst Center, Massachusetts. It is a part of Amherst College and employs 14 people. The museum houses the art collection of Amherst College, which is renowned for its diverse holdings. These include American and European paintings, Mexican ceramics, Tibetan scroll paintings, an English paneled room, ancient Assyrian carvings, Russian avant-garde art, West African sculpture, and Japanese prints. The museum serves as a resource for the Five Colleges academic community in western Massachusetts. The Mead Art Museum features eight galleries that regularly host rotating exhibitions and installations. These exhibitions explore a variety of historical periods and artistic media.
