Massachusetts Society for Medical Research

The Massachusetts Society for Medical Research (MSMR) is a non-profit organization based in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Employing four people, MSMR is the nation’s oldest biomedical research support organization, dedicated to advancing biomedical and biological research. MSMR works with a diverse membership base that includes research hospitals, biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms, as well as organizations that support biomedical research. The Society assists its members in navigating issues related to public perception, education, legislation, communication, outreach, and professional development training. Their focus areas include the ethical treatment of animals in research, working with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs), Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs), and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs). MSMR's mission is to champion biomedical and biological research, including the humane care and use of animals, ultimately aiming to improve the health and well-being of humans, animals, and the environment.
