Maryland State Treasurers Office

The Maryland State Treasurer’s Office is an executive level agency based in Annapolis, Maryland. The office has a staff of 43 employees. The Maryland State Treasurer’s Office is responsible for managing the state's finances. This includes receiving, depositing, investing, and distributing state money. The office works with financial institutions to serve as depositories for state funds and invests unexpended or surplus state money. The office also handles the state's debt by arranging for interest and principal payments, administering and arranging for the sale, settlement, and delivery of State General Obligation bonds, and working with bond rating agencies. They manage the state insurance program, including purchased insurance and self-insurance, and pay bills for state agencies upon warrant of the Comptroller.
