The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is the largest local prosecutorial office in the United States, serving Los Angeles County in California. As a government agency, the office employs nearly 1,000 attorneys, known as deputy district attorneys (DDAs), who prosecute serious crimes (felonies) throughout Los Angeles County. Additionally, they handle less serious crimes (misdemeanors) in unincorporated areas and 78 of the county's 88 cities.
