The Isla Vista Compost Collective (IVCC) is a non-profit organization based in Goleta, California. Founded in 2017 by the Ocean Friendly Gardens Committee of Isla Vista Surfrider, IVCC provides composting services to residents of Isla Vista. IVCC's mission is to increase composting participation in the community while educating residents on proper composting techniques. They offer a convenient and accessible way for households to compost their food waste, diverting it from landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. With funding from the Coastal Fund, IVCRC, and other sources, IVCC has expanded its service area to encompass 96 households, diverting an average of 781 pounds of food waste per week. Since its inception, IVCC has successfully diverted over 15 tons of food waste from landfills, preventing the release of over 13 tons of CO2e.
