Iowa State Universitys Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching

Iowa State University's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is a center located in Ames, Iowa, dedicated to supporting teaching effectiveness and student learning at Iowa State University. Established in 1993, CELT has grown over the years, expanding its staff and reach across the campus. With a team of six employees, CELT focuses on providing resources and programs for instructors, faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdocs. CELT offers a variety of resources to support instructors throughout their careers. These include face-to-face workshops, ongoing teaching and learning circles, and online resources. Programs are designed to assist new instructors in establishing their teaching programs, help instructors design or refine courses, and support faculty in conducting scholarship of teaching and learning research. The center collaborates with various on-campus resources, such as college instructional support units, the Dean of Students Office, Multicultural Student Affairs Office, and the Academic Success Center, to leverage existing resources and connect faculty with support across the university. The CELT staff, located in 3024 Morrill Hall, are available to consult with instructors on a range of teaching-related topics, including inclusivity, online and hybrid teaching best practices, course development, and innovative teaching methods.
