International Anesthesia Research Society

The International Anesthesia Research Society is a non-profit medical society based in Independence, Ohio. Founded in 1922, the organization is dedicated to advancing and supporting scientific research and education related to anesthesia. With a staff of 21 employees, the IARS boasts a global membership of over 15,000 individuals, including physicians, physician residents, and other professionals with doctoral degrees, as well as health professionals in anesthesia-related practice. The IARS focuses on improving patient care through basic research and provides a platform for anesthesiology leaders to share information and ideas. The organization contributes nearly $1 million annually to fund anesthesia research and sponsors the SmartTots initiative in partnership with the FDA. Additionally, the IARS supports the OpenAnesthesia initiative and publishes two peer-reviewed medical journals: Anesthesia & Analgesia and A&A Case Reports. The IARS distinguishes itself through its commitment to funding research projects that enhance and advance the field of anesthesiology.
