Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC. Founded in 2010, ISI employs 36 individuals. ISI focuses on advancing sustainable civil infrastructure through the use of Envision®, a sustainability framework and rating system. This framework, applicable to diverse sectors such as water, transportation, energy, waste, land/environmental, and more, is utilized by projects and individuals across North America and internationally. ISI provides education, training, and third-party project verification services based on the Envision Sustainability Framework. Developed in collaboration with the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, Envision® has been adopted by leading engineering associations: the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and the American Public Works Association (APWA).
