Indiana University Dance Marathon

Indiana University Dance Marathon, affectionately known as IU Dance Marathon or IUDM, is a student-run organization based in Bloomington, Indiana. This renowned group is comprised of over 1,400 members who work diligently year-round to plan and execute their flagship event: a 36-hour Dance Marathon. The organization's dedicated leadership team, consisting of 23 Executive Council members overseeing 18 committees, ensures the smooth operation and success of IUDM. The primary focus of IUDM is to raise both financial support and awareness for pediatric care, specifically benefiting Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana. Through a combination of fundraising events held throughout the year and the culminating 36-hour Dance Marathon, IUDM has amassed an impressive total of over $20 million for the hospital since its inception. Founded in 1991 to honor the life of Ryan White, IUDM has grown into the second largest student-run organization in the nation. The event draws over 3,000 participants, known as dancers, who commit to dancing for the entire 36 hours. IUDM's unwavering dedication to their cause is evident in their impressive fundraising achievements, with a record-breaking amount of $3,880,025.22 raised in 2014 alone.
