Illinois Science Council

The Illinois Science Council is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. With a team of six employees, the organization is dedicated to promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and engagement within the adult community. The Illinois Science Council partners with scientists, institutions, and companies to deliver a variety of public events and programs that showcase cutting-edge research and highlight the importance of STEM in everyday life. They host several signature events throughout the year, including the annual Pi Day 3.14-mile Fun Run, the Chicago Science Fest featuring lectures and interactive demonstrations, and the Science Cocktail Party. Beyond these flagship events, the Council organizes a diverse range of activities such as book readings, lectures, hands-on chemistry experiences, and movie screenings, exploring topics ranging from dark matter to the science of chocolate.
