Illinois Black Advocacy Initiative

The Illinois Black Advocacy Initiative is a small organization based in the United States. With three employees, IBAI is a dedicated force working to empower Black communities. Founded in 2021, the organization arose from a critical need to address systemic oppression and racial injustice faced by Black individuals in Illinois. IBAI focuses on creating and advancing a statewide Black advocacy agenda. The organization aims to improve the well-being, prosperity, and needs of Black Illinoisians by organizing and advocating for policy changes. Their work is driven by the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the persistent issue of police brutality against Black communities. IBAI distinguishes itself by being a Black-led and Black-focused organization. They prioritize the voices and needs of Black Illinois residents, working to ensure their full and abundant lives. The organization believes in accelerating targeted strategies, resources, and skills to effectively launch a unified Black agenda.
